Ok drill for puttering around the house and that's about it. I purchased it because my 12-volt Pany's batteries were dying. I love Amazon and have purchased many hand and power tools over the years from them but this purchase was from Lowe's. They had it on sale for $59. I check the power tool prices on Amazon, nightly, but it appears there are no deals to be had anymore there! In my opinion, if their price is not at least 60% off, it is not a good deal and you can find it cheaper somewhere else. This is more of a review for Amazon than the Hitachi drill as you can tell! I love shopping there, but for some reason, the prices aren't competitive anymore. Yeah! You might be able to grab something, on occasion, but that's about it. Check your local prices before you buy! Hello Amazon! Home Depot and Lowe's are now matching or selling many of your items cheaper! Comments are welcome!

I work on Microwave Stations. I take care of my tools exceptionally well; I don't drop them, mistreat them or abuse them. A spare can quite often be 1200 feet below and the effort needed to achieve work position necessitates the minimum load during tower acsention. The problem with Hitachi drill is the way the battery is locked in the place. Two very small tabs along side the batteries break very easy during insertion. The broken tabs allow the battery to fall loose from the tool endangering anyone or anything beneath the work area, be it 3 feet or 1200 feet. Anything impacted by the falling battery is subject to injury or damage. The tool works very well and is comfortable but be cautious.

I took this little bad boy out into the sugarbush last spring with 3 batteries and over 1,000 7/16 holes to drill in hard maple trees. The holes had to be about 2-1/2" deep. I used 2 of the batteries. If you ask me, there's no better cordless driver/drill than a Panasonic!

I bought my first Panasonic cordless after ridiculing a co-worker who paid more for a used 9.6v Panasonic than the cost of a new Makita. He loaned it to me for an hour and the next day I bought a new 12v one for myself, and then shortly, another. Over the years many co-workers who borrowed mine have done the same.

I just bought 2 more of these. I use them in tandem a lot, so I buy them in pairs when the batteries start to need charging more than once a day. I have owned 6 others in the last 25 years (starting with the 12v) and each new one has been a solid improvement. My last double set of 3.0 Amp/Hr NiMH batteries lasted ll years. I buy new drills each time because a pair of replacement batteries costs only slightly less than the a new drill with 2 batteries, charger & case. Only one of these drills ever needed repair (chuck replacement--20 years ago) and none broke or wore out. I also own a nearly new 19.2v Craftsman/Ryobi drill that is surprisingly good for the price, but the torque and battery life seem little different from the 15.6v Panasonics plus it's heavy as an anchor, has a two-handed chuck and several is inches longer.

I'm not a brand-loyal person. Each time before rebuying I spent time in stores and online trying to find something as good as or better than Panasonic. A few have copied the auto-locking shaft that allows quick one-handed chuck tightening & loosening, and their competitors drills and batteries are way better than they once were, but for a powerful,lightweight, multi-purpose cordless drill they're still not there, and the few close competitors are now significantly more expensive (they used to be cheaper). Quick note: Amazon's price was the lowest I could find. I'm not retailer-loyal either.

You won't find Panasonics on display in Home Depots or most hardware stores, or in advertisements, nor even in many consumer reviews--few trade magazines will review a non-advertiser's product. (I've only seen one Panasonic-inclusive bench test review and in it their 15.6v cordless beat all the 18v models for battery life and torque, and got the editors' rave review.) Where you'll most likely find them mostly is in the hands of working professionals who use them regularly.

My first Panasonic (EY6432NQKW) lasted 7 years under heavy use. Fabulous torque, battery life, ergonomics, balance. Not much of a factor in purchasing it, it's shorter length proved invaluable in many situations. This thing drives screws through several inches of dimension lumber for a long time on one battery charge. Very impressive. The chuck clutch finally gave out, but I quickly bought this new Panasonic, and also another mfgr's lithium model. The new Panasonic (like the old one) blows it away. My only complaint is that the batteries tended to fall off the drill in later years so I had to add a round of blue tape at battery changes. Admittedly, the drill dropped several feet a couple times to a hard surface. A slide-on battery would be a more robust approach. But it's the best drill out there none-the-less.

Yes , I've got this for 2 months now. I put it through some tough obstacles. I drilled through 6in of treated 6X6 posts, metal , and concrete without any problems. It is the lightest 18volt Li-Ion drill I could find. 18-volts is a huge step up in torque from the 9-volt I was used to. (Dewalt's batteries died noble deaths after a large number of years. No complaints there.) The battery charges in 15 minutes, because it's a 1.5 amp-hour battery. That also explains the weight, and the relatively low cost. For more $$$ you can buy Makita's blue BDF451. It's black and blue, instead of black and white, it weighs more, has a 3 amp-hour battery, three speeds instead of two, and slightly more torque at the same speed. It takes a little over 20 minutes to charge the 3 amp-hour battery. Makita may come out with a 14-volt Li-Ion drill, which might do everything I need, but it isn't out yet. For now, this is a great drill at a great price, and probably what you want if you use a cordless drill a lot.

I bought this set months ago, when I was really only looking for a cordless drill. I didn't think I would need the sabre saw or the circular saw, and honestly I could have survived without them. But all the items are superb tools, and for the cost of a good drill, you get a great drill and three other great tools. The only drawback is one of the two batteries supplied is poor at holding a charge. For home use these batteries--even the bad one--are OK. For heavy commercial use, the whole set would be excellent but for the batteries. I suspect that poor batteries are the reason such great tools are available for such a low price. If better (longer lasting) batteries are available, they would make this an absolutely unbeatable set.

If you are okay with the limitations of rechargeable tools, this is a very good deal. The reconditioned set showed previous usage, but only cosmetic. The batteries, blades and carrying case appear to be new. The only thing missing was a Phillips screw driver bit and I have plenty of them already. The tools operate as expected and will be handy for use away from a power supply. The one thing I didn't think I would need is the flashlight, and I have found myself using it more than anything else.

I thought I would save a few dollars over buying this set new at the local home improvement store. What a mistake! The tools arrived in good enough shape and work as promised -- just a few dings and scratches to show they aren't new. However, after a couple weeks of charge and discharge cycles BOTH batteries refuse to hold a charge. They work okay directly off the charger, but if left to sit for even a couple of days will die completely. Ryobi CPO first said they would replace them, then a week later decided that since I had contacted them shortly after their 30-day period I would have to send them back to Ryobi under the factory warranty. Great! I get to pay shipping and wait a couple of weeks with a set of completely useless tools (no batteries!) while Ryobi sends me new ones. I saw this set advertised for $128 new the other day. I would NOT buy this set or ANYTHING from CPO Ryobi again.

Im a contractor and have tried just about every name brand. When it comes to cordless drills, i would have to say dewalt is the best,,, but wayyy to pricey,, they handle the abuse and hold some good battery charges (especially the xrp) but i need to have at least 5 or 6 of these guns for my guys and when it comes time to replace batteries,,, its EXPENSIVE,,, like almost 80 bucks for just one 12v battery!!! Ryobi on the other hand produces this 18v bad boy which i have like 4 of,,, and it takes alot of abuse, holds good charge and is reliable,,, for the price its EXCELLENT!!! and you can get the batteries for under [...]!!! the good thing to is that each kit comes with 2 batteries,,, like i noticed on some of dewalts' kits, they only have 1. Basically you cant go wrong with this tool,,, you can literally throw it away and buy a whole new kit for just the cost of ONE dewalt battery!!! I even use this to pre drill masonry screws (tap cons) and i think on one charge i was drilling holes in concrete all day!! ok slight exaggeration but you get my point!! Although the last one i ordered, i didnt realize it was refurbished,,, still not bad,, but this tool is cheap enough brand new that there is no need to get the 'refurbished' deal. I had to take it to the tool shop to adjust the screw in the chuck before i could use it,, but that only took a second and it works fine now. They are in home depot (well when i bought one there about 6months ago) for about 89.99 and we take them to hell and back and they keep on ticking! BUY THIS TOOL!
